The film "Goryani" of the director Atanas Kiryakov will be broadcast on the BNT this Saturday, 01/28 from 16:50 h. and Sunday, 29/01: 16:00 h.

In Bulgaria, the film was presented on September 27, 2011. He was welcomed with great interest by the civil society. "Goryani" is dedicated to one of the most traumatic, but the most remarkable moments in recent Bulgarian history - the resistance movement of the goryani against communist rule in the period from 1944 to 1956. In the film are used authentic archival and documentary evidence and memories of others still living participants in the movement or their inheritors.
Goryani movement is the largest organized and mass resistance movement of the Bulgarians against the communist government, as in the time of its greatest swing it involved several thousand people who operated throughout the country. The movement takes place during the worst years of totalitarian rule - of the repression during the actual Stalinism and the collectivization of the land. But despite the available documents and evidences to date it remains relatively little known outside the specialized scientific circles.
In this aspect the movement of the Goryani is the most articulate argument against the widespread attitude of the Bulgarian Society for the relatively peaceful imposition of the Communist dictatorship in country as well as against the popular abroad image of Bulgaria as an obedient satellite of the Soviet Union. The authentic character of the movement as well as the totalitarian nature of this epoch make the film "Goryani" an important witness for the actual regard of the majority of the Bulgarians to the communist rule.

Andrey Kovatchev finances the spread of the film in Bulgarian and foreign research centers examining the period after World War II. The film will be distributed in a number of schools.
